Keeping Our Nighttime Economy Safe!

Last night, Cllr Josh Harris and I had the privilege of joining Worthing Street Buddies, the Night Safety Marshalls, and Georgie from Becky’s Button to see firsthand the incredible work they do to keep our community safe.

Street Buddies are out every Saturday night (00:00-04:00) (Volunteer Depending). These amazing volunteers provide essentials like water, flip-flops, foil blankets, phone chargers, first aid, and even lollipops to support those in need. Interested in helping out? Get in touch with them!

Night Safety Marshalls – A vital part of our Night-Time Economy, they assist vulnerable individuals, administer first aid, and handle difficult situations, ensuring everyone has a safe and enjoyable night. These are funded by Adur and Worthing Police.

Becky’s Button – A charity set up in memory of Rebecca Dykes, who tragically lost her life in 2017. They provide discreet personal alarms that emit a loud ringing noise when activated, helping protect vulnerable individuals. To learn more or support their mission, visit: beckysbutton.org.

It was inspiring to see how these teams come together to create a safer night out for everyone. Huge thanks to all involved!
