VE Day in Worthing

VE Day in Worthing genuinely gave me chills. There was such a strong sense of pride and togetherness in the air — the kind of patriotism we don’t always get to feel in everyday life. It made me feel incredibly proud to be British.

For those who might not know the full history, VE Day (Victory in Europe Day) is held every year on 8th May. It marks the end of World War II in Europe, when Nazi Germany surrendered in 1945. It’s a day to remember the sacrifices made by so many, and to reflect on how lucky we are to live in the country we do today.

Worthing did the day justice. The town centre was buzzing with atmosphere, and that’s down to the fantastic work of the Worthing Town Centre Business Improvement District, the brilliant market stalls, and all the other local organisations who pulled together to make it happen.

From the vintage music and performances to the historical displays and general community spirit, it was a proper celebration with heart and meaning.

Events like this remind us not just of our past, but of the strength in our community today. A huge thank you to everyone involved — you made it a day to be proud of.
